Why CREATIVITY? Why now?

Where does creativity come from? Is there a way to enhance it? How do we get more of it? How do we work together creatively?

The world is burning. Precious things are going up in smoke — things that we thought we could always rely on, things that seemed so immutable we forgot they were even there: Democracy. Science. Love-thy-neighbor kindness. Education. Art. Reliable weather forecasting. Liberty and Justice for All.

It’s like watching your house burn down: There goes the roof. Now there goes the neighbor’s house, up in flames. Then the whole town. Will there be anything left when this is over? The firefighters who are meant to protect those things are asleep, or even helping it burn. We just stand here, dazed, blistered, covered with ash. What now?

We grieve, of course. Embrace the survivors, take care of ourselves and each other. But then? Then we need to pick ourselves up to start planning how we are going to rebuild, design our blueprint for what’s next. And we need to start that process NOW, even while everything is still burning. Because someone has to build it back, after this is all over. This can be an opportunity for us to build a future that is better, more inclusive, more sustainable.

What do we need for that? CREATIVITY.

Where does creativity come from? Is there a way to enhance it? How do we get more of it? How do we work together creatively?

That’s why I started Spark Juice Flow, to learn more about creativity, share what I learn, and help us all to develop creative skills, creative selves, creative cohorts. I hope you’ll join me in this juicy and necessary work.
